The general administration and the smooth functioning of the Mount Carmel Schools are indebted to the members of this board who are experts of imparting education to the students.

SERVICE OF SISTERS

Catholic religious sisters belonging to the Congregation of Daughters of Mary (D M) are collaborating with the Society in running the Mount Carmel School at Garhshankar. Their involvement and expertise in the academics and over all running of the school emphasis discipline and decorum that is proper to convent schools.

CO- EDUCATION

Mount Carmel School is a co-educational school. It provides admission to both girls and boys belonging to any caste or creed. Studying together in a co-educational setting has many benefits for both genders; encouraging self esteem, social skills and better preparation for a diverse world where both genders play important roles. Thus, the school prepares its students to become members of a liberated society who would nurture values of equality, freedom and fraternity. Only an education that focuses on the intellectual, spiritual and physiological development of the students will help them to understand this truth. Because of this reason our school upholds its motto: “TRUTH LIBERATES YOU”.

AIM

The aim of the school is to impart quality education designed for all round development of the child. The students will be prepared for their future by a careful cultivation of their minds and hearts. Children will be enlightened intellectually, morally, socially, professionally and spiritually. Special emphasis is given for the practice of natural virtues like truthfulness, honesty, simplicity, self discipline and orderliness.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

It is chiefly through these activities that the various facts of the child’s personality are revealed and that such qualities as team spirit, self-confidence, sportsmanship, initiative and the proper use of leisure are developed.

Mere accumulation of knowledge is not enough in life. Some of the co- curricular activities encourages are: public speaking (English, Punjabi and Hindi) dramatics, social service, drawing and painting, dancing and singing, games, P.T. athletics, excursion, educational films, work experience etc.
